Proprietary agricultural drone systems — DJI Agras in particular — are built around a closed ecosystem. When the flight controller fails, or the firmware locks the machine out of areas it should be able to fly, or a replacement board is quoted at R60,000 with a six-week lead time, the machine becomes a liability rather than a tool.

Eden Drone Repairs offers JIYI K++ V2 retrofits for existing agricultural drone frames, new custom JIYI builds, and repair of existing JIYI-based systems — from our workshop in Heidelberg, Western Cape.

We have hands-on JIYI experience. Our first completed JIYI project was a water-damaged crop sprayer with a failed flight controller kit — stripped, rebuilt, and returned to service with a full JIYI K++ V2 system. That project confirmed what the system is capable of and what it takes to do this work correctly.


Why JIYI?

The JIYI K++ V2 is a dedicated agricultural flight controller — not a hobbyist platform adapted for farm use. It is designed specifically for spray and spread operations, and it shows in how it behaves in the field.

What it does that proprietary systems do not:

  • Triple IMU and dual barometer redundancy — if one sensor degrades mid-flight in a dusty or humid environment, the system continues on the backup without pilot intervention
  • Break-point memory — if the drone returns to base for a battery swap or refill, it resumes the mission from exactly where it stopped
  • Integrated low-tank failsafe — the system responds to tank level, not just battery level
  • AB Point and full perimeter autonomous mission modes built into the app — no laptop, no ground station software
  • No geo-fencing restrictions tied to a manufacturer’s cloud infrastructure

The JIYI K++ V2 is controlled via the SIYI MK15 agricultural controller — an Android-based unit with a high-brightness screen readable in direct sunlight, and physical knobs for adjusting spread rate and swath width on the fly. It is a purpose-built field tool.

JIYI Retrofit Service

A retrofit replaces the flight electronics of an existing agricultural drone frame with a JIYI K++ V2 system. The frame, motors, arms, and tank or spreader assembly are retained. The flight controller, ESCs (where proprietary), radio link, and spreading control logic are replaced.

Suitable candidates for retrofit:

  • DJI Agras series frames with failed or locked flight controllers
  • Other brand agricultural platforms (XAG, Tta, custom builds) where the original electronics are no longer supported or repairable
  • Crash-damaged agricultural drones where the frame is structurally sound but the electronics are beyond repair

What the retrofit includes:

  • Full disassembly and assessment of the existing frame and drivetrain
  • JIYI K++ V2 installation with GPS, PMU, and radar integration
  • SIYI MK15 controller configuration for JIYI app operation
  • JIYI K-Box integration for pump or spreader motor control
  • IMU calibration, compass calibration, and failsafe configuration
  • Bench test and functional flight validation

What it does not include:

Frame structural repair, motor replacement, or tank/spreader mechanical work — these are quoted separately if required. We will advise during assessment.

Note on DJI Agras batteries: DJI smart battery packs communicate via a proprietary data protocol. A JIYI retrofit requires either an adapter solution or a transition to standard high-voltage LiPo packs. We will assess compatibility with your specific battery model and advise before proceeding.


Repair of Existing JIYI Systems

If you already have a JIYI K++ V2-based drone — whether built by us or by another integrator — we provide fault diagnosis and repair.

Common JIYI system faults we address:

  • K++ V2 flight controller board failure
  • GPS module faults and compass interference issues
  • SIYI MK15 / MK32 link faults and binding failures
  • Radar module faults (obstacle avoidance and terrain following)
  • K-Box pump and spreader control failures
  • Firmware update complications and sensor recalibration after component replacement

Custom JIYI Builds

For customers who need a new agricultural drone rather than a retrofit, we build custom JIYI-based platforms to specification. Our standard 30-litre hexacopter build uses the JIYI K++ V2 flight controller, Hobbywing X-series power systems, and the SIYI MK15 agricultural controller.

Custom builds are quoted individually based on intended application — liquid spray, granular spread, or dual-mode — and on the specific frame and power system specification required.

If you are comparing a custom build against the cost of a new DJI Agras, speak to us first. A JIYI-based build is repairable with parts you can stock locally. A crash does not mean a proprietary repair queue and a machine grounded for a season.

  • The make and model of your existing drone
  • The nature of the fault or reason for the retrofit (crash damage, controller failure, firmware lock, or other)
  • Your location — for large agricultural platforms, we will advise on freight and crating before you ship

    IMPORTANT: All drones must be delivered to our Heidelberg workshop by prior booking. No on-site inspections or call-outs are performed.
